"Cuento Theatre"
Led by actress, playwright and director Marisela Barrera our bilingual children's theater workshop invites children to participate in storytelling. Slowly pulling the children out of their shells, by the end of the workshop they are acting and role playing with enthusiasm. To learn more about Marisela go to lacolectiva.org.

"Hear the Beat"
Percussion enthusiast T-Bow shares his passion with children of all ages. All variety of percussion instruments are brought and shared with the children. Teaching them about rhythm and melody, by the end of the workshop each child plays their rhythm and collectively produce a fantastic sound.

"Mix it Up"
Emerging artist Ashley DeStefano captures children into creating their own pieces. She teaches the children how to expand on their imagination using a variety of mixed media from glitter to stickers to paint. Read more about Ashley at 1906gallery.com and click on past exhibits.

"Spinning with JJ Lopez"
Jay Lopez is well known here in our Alamo city for his deep knowledge of music (emphasizing funk, blues and jazz) and his master spinning techniques. In this workshop, one of our most popular, the kids obtain basic historical knowledge about hip hop and breakdancing plus learn basic spinning. The kids are riveted! Cookie Arts Workshop
Yum! Yum! Christine McCrae-Kelly, founder of Lily's Cookies, shares her classically trained artist and culinary skills with the SMART Fair kids. Floral Arts
Flowers are artist Henry DeLeon's medium. As a career florist Henry teaches how to cut, keep and arrange fresh flowers in a way that is both artistic and caring. This was an enlightening and creative workshop taken and enjoyed by the entire family. Henry is well known by our top downtown hotel destinations as providing premium flower artistry. He has been in the industry for over 20 years and we are proud to have him on our team.

Imagine H20 - Transport to a watery world
Listen to a raucous thunderstorm, vibrant waterfall or a gentle spring rain and interpret what you hear. SAWS bring their educational component to children by inviting them to put on headphones, listen to a variety of water sounds and draw what they hear. Learn more about at saws.org/education.

Sticky Fingers
Another popular SMART Fair workshop, instructor Ruby of Becky's PiA+/-atas teaches the art of piA+/-ata making. Children (and adults) love it! Beginning with just a balloon and newspaper strips, by the end they have their own masterpiece to share.

VIA "Classroom on Wheels"
VIA, our SMART partner, drove their "Classroom on Wheels" to the SMART Fair and enlightened the public. Upon entering, children immediately realize this is not your usual city bus. This gem is rich with color and the inside walls are lined with art created by the children of San Antonio. Providing hands-on education VIA teaches about bus safety.To learn more go to viainfo.net/community.
