6.0 > Luminaria
International artist Vaago Wieland from Germany and local filmmaker Laura Varela team up to create the Alamo site specific installation for Luminaria, San Antonio's all day and night arts fair on March 14th. In support of their efforts, the SMART/ART program has provided their project warehouse space for the fabrication of Wieland's historical installation. Accompanying Weiland's sculptural "light tents" will be Varela's video projection onto the Alamo. She will be the first Chicana to arrange an installation of this magnitude at the historical Alamo site. Their collaboration will be referencing the significance of the Alamo's history.
